Having a proper mindset in life is so crucial. When you think right, you live a life of freedom and make good decisions. When I started on my minimalist path, I knew it would help me to cut costs. But once I got started, I found that it freed up not only my time but put my mind at ease.
Each possession we have requires cost and maintenance. Many obtain so many possessions that their lives are tied up in taking care of the ‘things of life.’ I have heard that the 2 best days in a man’s life are the day he buys an RV and the day he finally sells it.
The same can be said of any expensive toy such as a boat or any unneeded high-cost hobby item. Not having to maintain all the unneeded possessions frees up our time to do the things that are most important in life.
Sometimes just learning to control ourselves and say NO to unneeded desires is important. Article on Learning to Say No.
Realizing that a joyful life is more about experiences and family and not about acquiring things is very important. If our lives please God, we live a more confident life.
To be able to concentrate on most important things allows us to live a simple life of freedom. It begins by seeing things right, and that is where mindset comes into play.
According to Wiki-pedia:
A mindset is an established set of attitudes of a person or group concerning culture, values, philosophy, frame of mind, outlook, and disposition. It may also arise from a person's worldview or beliefs about the meaning of life.
Having a strong mindset will let you deal with issues that come up in life with resilience. See article on Resilience.
You must develop a determined mind and see things from an accurate worldview. If you listen to the ways of the world, you will find that truth is rarely found. After many years, I have found the world is directed by the wrong leader. But if you look at the things God teaches, you find total truth. God simply can not lie. Satan lies to us all the time.
Paul told those in the church at Phillipi to have the right mind, and that mind should be the mind of Christ.
(Php 2:1) If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, (Php 2:2) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. (Php 2:3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (Php 2:4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. (Php 2:5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
When we think with a clear mindset, it will cause us to respond to life’s challenges. Most people wait for things to happen, and then they react. Responding is much better than reacting.
If you go to the doctor and you receive a medication, and the next day he says you are either negatively reacting or positively responding. The medication will be stopped if your body reacts to the meds. However if you respond, you are benefiting from the medication.
So we should think things through, and handle things by responding to whatever happens. Reactions many times will be negative, but a proper response is the proper way to deal with the issue.
When we have the right mindset it allows us to be a better family member, a better friend, and an employee at your business. If you are a manager, you should have the right mindset to lead your team by being a great role model.
Instead of managing like a dictator, have a servant’s mindset and be willing to serve rather than demand hard work from your employees. Never ask an employee to do a job you would not do.
Serve for the best of the company and watch how your workers will respond to that example of being a great leader. When we think right, we appreciate all the good things that come to us in life giving us more joy and happiness.
Plan with Attitude, Prepare with Aptitude, Participate with Servitude, Receive with Gratitude, And this should be enough to Separate you from the Multitude.
We need to have a tough determined mind, and it needs to be based on facts. Actual experiences are way better than opinions. Each day you live a correct life that is God-honoring is another day when you gain more ability to see things with an ‘accurate’ mindset.
